Katzenjammer

The choice of name is unusual. Katzenjammer is German for ‘caterwaul’. However, the name suits the Norwegian group perfectly.  Anne Marit Bergheim, Marianne Sveen, Solveig Heilo and Turid Jørgensen are passionate and dreamy and blessed with a wild musical friskiness. The ladies wear striking retro dresses and blend folky music from the frozen North with country, pop and harmonies à la The Andrew Sisters. They each play at least five instruments and are not afraid to use the balalaika, glockenspiel, mandolin or ukulele. In 2009, Katzenjammer was one of the revelations of the Dranouter Festival. We know already that they are to be one of the highlights on our new stage!
