Kasabian

Kasabian

SATURDAY - MAIN STAGE

Big in Britain. Kasabian won the Brit Award for Best British Group in 2010. The magazine Q called the band the Best Act in the World Today. We have not been so fast here. However, the signs are good: a sold-out AB, a much-enjoyed performance on the main stage at Rock Werchter 2011 and a sold-out Cirque Royal in Brussels in February 2012. ‘They are welcome to return,’ said Humo ( popular Belgian weekly) after last year’s festival. And here they are. Kasabian has built on the musical foundations laid by Primal Scream and The Stone Roses in the early ‘90s.  Rock with beats. Intoxicating party music for ‘the lads’. From ‘Empire’ (2006) on, it looked as if the British could not live without Kasabian. The second album went straight to # 1 and sold over 600,000 copies. Its successors ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’ (2009) and ‘Velociraptor!’ (2011) were injected with some extra psychedelica and soul by producer Dan The Automator (Gorillaz) and were nominated for all the awards that matter. It’s nice to have them back.
