Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay – a couple of youthful old French guys with innocent sounding names who do right-in-your-face dance music. They mix disco with bombastic rock. It’s funky stuff, with shards of metal that hark back to the best of seventies and eighties rock (Led Zeppelin, Queen, Van Halen). Justice were discovered in a remix competition run by a happening Parisian radio channel and signed to Ed Banger Records. Their presence helped propel Pedro Winter, who manages Cassius and Daft Punk, to owner of reputedly the hottestdance label on the planet. The first hit track was ‘We Are Your Friends’, a rework of ‘Never Be Alone’ by the British band Simian. The accompanying video was awarded Best Video at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2006. Life, and the world, loves them. They have colleagues in 2manydjs, Erol Alkan and Tiga and notorious fans in N*E*R*D, Fatboy Slim and Britney Spears. Justice embraces the cross, the duo’s emblem. Electronic music should be a celebration that brings people together. Their latest anthem is ‘Audio, Video, Disco’ (2011). An album title that sums up exactly what they do live on stage.
