Dropkick Murphys
SUNDAY - MAIN STAGE
A rambunctious crossing of AC/DC, The Clash and Irish folk. Dropkick Murphys come from the American city of Boston and have taken the name from a local rehabilitation centre. The seven are specialists in open air parties in daylight and have been leaving a trail of unlimited fun throughout the world for almost 20 years. Belgium is a popular stop: AB, Pukkelpop, Rock Werchter, Lotto Arena and recently Fôret National. They have sold over three million copies of their seven albums. The youngest is called ‘Going Out In Style’ (2011) and tells the story of young Irishman Cornelius Larkin who emigrates to the United States. The guest list on the album is impressive: Fat Mike of NOFX and Bruce Springsteen. The Boss returned the favour. In 2009 Murphys joined him for a concert in Boston. Guitarist Tim Brennan asked his girlfriend then and there to marry him. She said ‘yes’.
