One of the leading DJs and producers of the moment, though Joel Zimmerman hates the word ‘DJ’. He sees what he does live as more of a kind of technological orgy. He uses clever software that he has partly written himself and allows him to assemble songs on the spot. The Canadian is a cross between a computer and a mouse. His name is derived from the time a mouse crawled inside his hard drive and died there. His visual trademark is two large mouse ears. Deadmau5 is a friend to all. He is popular with lovers of brutal electro, house, (minimal) techno as well as trance. His great talent and strict work ethic have made him a big name since 2008 in particular. The mouse became a prize animal. Following several appearances at I Love Techno and Pukkelpop, the rodent is gnawing his way towards Werchter.
