FRIDAY - THE BARN
Her voice is incredible and always compared with nightingales in the likes of Tori Amos, Kate Bush and PJ Harvey. Content-wise the British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nastasha Khan initially leaned towards Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. She has an arty background. At university she made multimedia installations with sound systems, animation and performance. Pop music would only follow at a later stage. Her debut ‘Fur and Gold’ (2006) was complimented by interesting people like Björk and Thom Yorke. In 2008 Radiohead dragged her along everywhere. ‘Two Suns’ (2009) sounded as varied as the places where the album was written. The British countryside, the California sun, New York’s buzz... Yeasayer plays along and ‘The Big Sleep’, a duet with the legendary Scott Walker, makes everyone quiet. Also worthwhile: her covers of ‘Use Somebody’ by Kings Of Leon and ‘Strangelove’ by Depeche Mode. Khan is quietly working on a third album.
