Alex Crossan is the wunderkind of the British electro scene. The young musician and multi-instrumentalist grew up in Guernsey, a tiny island off the coast of Normandy. His mother introduced him to Joni Mitchel and his father to the progrock of Yes. The rest of music history Crossan discovered on YouTube. He explored Ableton Live, the software for digital music production, and through James Blake and Flying Lotus discovered how deep you can take it. His colourful beats with exotic samples are full of fresh ideas possessed of a rare magnetic power. “He’s just destroying the Internet”, says Diplo. Skrillex and Justin Bieber are big fans of Mura Masa. Crossan took the name from a Japanese swordmaker from the 16th century. Last year Love$ick, with the voice of rapper A$AP Rocky, was his first contact with the hit parade, a foretaste of the debut album Mura Masa (14 July).
